Zoo in Rome
Spending a fun day at the zoo in Rome can give the whole family a break from monument sight-seeing. Not only will you see a lot of different animals in the zoo but there is also a playground for your younger ones and a petting zoo for kids!
This roman zoo is located inside the beautiful Villa Borghese Park, and is easily accessible. Should you be strolling through the park you’ll see signs everywhere! The Bioparco zoo has three snack bars and a restaurant which overlooks the giraffe area. You can also bring your own food because there is also a picnic area outside!

New! By paying an extra Euro 2.00 you can visit the Butterfly Greenhouse! The greenhouse is over 80 square meters and you can see gorgeous tropical butterflies of all kinds when you walk through and admire terrariums that house hundreds of small creatures such as millipedes, giant centipedes, praying mantas, insects, ants and many more!
The zoo is open every day of the year except for Christmas day. The opening hours for the Roman Zoo Bioparco is from 9.30AM until usually 7.00PM, sometimes they close down at 6.00PM. They’ll let you in until one hour before closing time. If you’re lucky, you’ll be there when they will do some special event in the evening and so stay open!
Important: Dogs or other animals are not allowed in the zoo.
Tickets cost €14.00 for adults and €12.00 for children. Children smaller than one meter are free of charge! Senior citizens (+65) receive a discount every day except on Wednesdays. The ticket is Euro 4.00.

How to arrive to the zoo: You can easily reach the zoo with the tram, bus or Metro
Tram: Nr. 19 – Bioparco stop
Bus: Nr. 3, 52, 53, 926, 217, 360, 910
Metro: red line A to ‘Flaminio’ stop
Bioparco is inside the Villa Borghese park. Galleria Borghese is inside the park as well.
If you go outside of the park, you’ll hit Via Veneto and the Roman walls.
If you go down the steps from Pincio which is a part of Villa Borghese Park, you’ll hit Piazza del Popolo, Church Santa Maria del Popolo and you can also start going down Via del Corso and reach further attractions.
