La Buca dell Orfeo is located close to the Uffizi Gallery so location is central.
My family and I went to La Buca dell Orfeo for a late dinner. We enjoyed an authentic, hearty Tuscan cuisine in this little restaurant. This little place can be a bit of a challenge to find, but well worth it. After you go down some stairs you will enter a small room with some tables close to each other. I found it to be very cozy and pleasant. While we there it was filled with more locals than tourists, which I always think is a good sign. They have a menu they change daily and the choices are unique.
La Buca dell Orfeo was perfect. Starting with the appetizers to desserts, all very good and well done. We had a terrific waiter who was patiently able to describe the Italian menu for us in English. He could not have been more accommodating. The appetizers we had were excellent on the waiter recommendation.
My son and I had the steak for two that was outstanding. It was so juicy and tasty. It was crusty on the outside and rare in the center. The way a steak should be eaten. My wife said her swordfish carpaccio was exquisite, the tastiest and freshest she has ever had. My daughter had the pasta with porcini mushrooms and she said that was phenomenal. It was both fresh and very tasty. Our waiter also did a terrific job pairing our food with delicious wines.
The espresso at La Buca dell Orfeo was the best we had in Florence. For dessert we all had the cherry infused cake that was remarkable.
If you decide to eat at La Buca dell Orfeo. You will need to make reservations for dinner, as space is quite limited. They do not take credit cards.
I found the prices to be reasonable price with terrific food and high service quality. Highly recommended.
