Hotel L Antico Convitto Amalfi
Hotel L Antico Convitto Amalfi is a wonderful hotel situated right in the heart of Amalfi. It is located right next to Cathedral of Amalfi, and the lovely Piazza Duomo. It’s also very close to the main square, and yet it is nice and quiet at night. It’s a short walking distance (five minute walk) to the harbor where from you can reach Capri, Positano, Sorrento, Salerno, etc. The SITA bus stop is also nearby, enabling you to take a quick ride to Ravello.
Hotel L Antico Convitto Amalfi is a three star hotel, located on the third floor of a shared building. The 16 air-conditioned rooms include satellite TV, minibar and a safe. They also come with a private bathroom with a shower, fresh towels and a hair dryer. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the communal areas and bedrooms. The superior rooms feature a double bedroom, and a large living room that has a double bed sofa. Room are spotless and well furnished. Keeping with the Mediterranean location, rooms are decorated in light blues and beautiful ceramic tiles on the floors.
The multilingual staff are very welcoming and friendly. They have 24-hour front desk. They are fantastically helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. They hand out maps and make terrific suggestions for sights to see. They are more than happy to book restaurants, and sort out local transportation.
Breakfast on the open terrace is just beautiful with stunning views down overlooking the Amalfi coast. Breakfast is available between 7:30 a.m and 10:00 a.m. They serve a large range of fresh fruits, hams, cheeses, and good variety of breads. Plus hard boiled eggs, cereals, the usual sweet pastries, etc. And of course a full choice of beverages that includes fresh squeezed OJ, coffee and cappuccino.
The only drawback is the bells from the nearby Duomo. They begin to go off early in the morning (around 7:00), however that’s the price you have pay for the extraordinary location.
One thing not to be missed is the tour of Amalfi and its history. It’s sponsored by the local hotel association. One of the many things you will learn is the town of Amalfi played a key role in the development of western civilization, and it used to be one of the wealthiest and most influential in the Mediterranean area.
They offer a free luggage service to and from the ferry terminal.
If you arrive by car, you must park in a municipal parking garage a short distance from Hotel L Antico Convitto Amalfi.
